Oscar-winning director Jan Sverak worked extensively in Britain to recreate the WWII era for his latest film, telling the story of two Czech pilots who escaped the Nazi invasion of their country and flew for the R.A.F. in England. Sverak deftly conveys the passions aroused when both men fall in love with the same English woman, winningly played by Tara Fitzgerald, and he balances the sensitive emotional issues with beautifully realised aerial sequences, so detailed and costly to produce, that this has now become the most expensive Czech film ever made. A touching and very moving story about love and war, and a beautiful film crafted with style and finesse. (From Czechoslovakia / with English language and some English subtitles)
