| MY LIFE SO FAR |
 |
|
The applause from audiences at The REGAL has ensured the return of this British gem. From the misty Highlands of Scotland comes the story of a boy who would grow to be an influential executive in Britain’s television industry and a member of the Board of The National Opera. In a world away from what he was later to know, young Fraser belonged to an eccentric Scottish family living at Kiloran House on an idyllic old estate. His mother (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) tries to maintain a sense of stability in a world filled with the mechanical contraptions and imaginative creations of his father (Colin Firth), an inventor and misunderstood genius. Producer, David Puttnam, and Director, Hugh Hudson, previously worked together on CHARIOTS OF FIRE, and have now been brought together again as a result of their common interest in this poignant and whimsical tale of a boy’s growing realisation of life beyond his childhood experiences. Irene Jacob and Malcolm McDowell arrive at Kiloran bringing with them a reality from outside. Rosemary Harris is the boy’s indomitable grandmother who is worshipped, feared and loved by young Fraser. Beautifully photographed... here is a genuine reward for going to the pictures.
