Francois ozon has directed his first English languarge film with SWIMMING POOL, but at the same time, has retained all the hallmarks of French cinema. Not the least of his trademarks is the casting of Ludivine Sagnier on the leading role, alongside Charlotte Rampling, the supert and always slightly mysterious English actress who has found a freedom of expression in stylish European films for more than 30 years. Sarah Morton (Charlotte Rampling), is suffering writers block and heads for her publishers villa in the south of France where she finds more emitional drama and sensual intrigu, than she could ever had dreamed of as an author. Julie (Ludivine Sagnier) is the daughter of Sarahs editor, and the arrival of this head-strong, free-spirited young woman removes the limites which seem to have contained the story so far .. and the midlife reserve which has constrained the writers understanding and experience of life.
