| MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA |
 |
|
Director Rob Marshall, who proved his mastery of visual detail in CHAGAGO, now recreates an era in 1930s/40s Japan and a secret world of the geishas at that time. Arthur Golden’s intricate novel is realised with affection, and the cast, Ziyi Zhang, Gong Li, Michellle Yeoh and Ken Watanabe is perfect. The extravagant production has been jointly financed by Columbia Picture, Dreamworks, Spyglass and Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment so that the popular and much-loved book is well-served by this screen adaptation.
